Clear terms, with attribution intact.

This page explains the terms that apply to Shravana and the open-source components included with it. Check the entry for your installed version because release terms can differ.

Updated August 29, 2026

1. Shravana releases

Qualifying Shravana-owned portions use the Shravana Proprietary Beta License. Inherited Fastrepl code and third-party open-source components remain governed by their respective licenses. The terms included with each download control that release.

The Shravana name, logo, and domain are brand identifiers and are not granted under the MIT License.

2. Upstream attribution

Shravana contains software originally distributed under the MIT License by Fastrepl, Inc. The upstream copyright notice remains in the repository and distribution because the MIT License requires it. Keeping that notice is attribution, not Shravana branding.

3. Third-party software

Shravana uses third-party packages under permissive and file-level copyleft licenses, including MIT, Apache-2.0, BSD, ISC, Mozilla Public License 2.0, and Unicode licenses. Those licenses remain with their respective authors and are not replaced by Shravana's terms.

The current Windows build contains no GPL, LGPL, or AGPL runtime package. Each distributed build includes a dependency report, Shravana's third-party notices, and corresponding source for any covered MPL-2.0 component files. That archive contains only the required third-party component source, not Shravana application source.

4. Downloaded models

Speech and intelligence models are separate downloads and may have their own licenses, acceptable-use rules, or attribution requirements. Shravana shows a model's license before download. Review it before using a model, especially for commercial work.

Current speech choices include MIT-licensed Whisper weights, CC BY 4.0 and NVIDIA Open Model License Parakeet variants, and an Apache-2.0 Omnilingual variant. Historical Argmax Pro model archives are not offered because their published terms do not grant open redistribution rights.

5. Distribution notices

The Shravana releases page keeps a compact license history. Shravana does not publish its proprietary application source. Beta.4 distributions include the Shravana license, inherited Fastrepl MIT notice, dependency report, and any required third-party source.
